Foot Shell On Leg

R3 Finally has her Shell on the Body!!! and the picture does not do it Justice!!! It really looks better in person than the picture. she's kinda sideways right now because I have her proped up while I am working on the other leg. Well after Ancient City Con I will pull her center foot out and start on the beefy ankle part and also try to finish my Skirt up,more to com almost complete except for some small stuff.

Finally one complete!!! I just need to glue the pieces in the Battery Boxes. I just have them stuck in there,I got the other foot painted white today, They are not perfect but it's good enough for me. I am very Happy the way they turned out, I let my hoses set outside in the sun and rain for about 2 1/2 months and they look pretty weathered now.R3 will have Shells for Ancient City Con in 2 weeks!!!!! SWEET!!!!

Well finally got 1 foot shell finished and and Primed, did pretty good with the Glazing Putty so tonight I will wet sand and tomorrow Paint. This has been a long time coming WHOO HOO!!!!

Preping For Painting

Well I have been Glazing putty all the pits in my Resin Parts that I've had for a couple of years LOL, and now it is Paint time!!!! My Cylinders are all almost done, I have to let the green paint that I did today dry till next weekend and the I can tape up the Green like I did on the 1st 2 and paint the silver. Next I will start on my Battery Boxes and Feet.

Calvin has been working on my feet for a while now we have 1 fully complete and the other one needs the trim pieces at the bottom. then it will be finished, They turned out pretty nice for the first set. But I have been busy trying to get my girl finished for CV!!!! Can't wait to meet everybody there....

Ankle Cylinders

I started working on my Detail Pieces did my glazing Putty to get rid of all the Pits, I also Painted my Ankle Cylinders this weekend after a week has passed I will tape up the green and do the silver, and then I can put them on. Also Crissy and I goofing around with our Droids.

Outer Feet Shells

Finally Working on R3 again, We ordered some A&A Outer shells but there are some pieces that are too short ;o(... And I want them done before Ancient City Con so Calvin decided to make me some while Andy is going to find out what's wrong... He actually built the shells to the motor Holder LOL!!! This is only rough cut and I still need to make the other side where the Battery boxes go and then the glazing putty and final sanding, Speaking of which I am doing the final glazing Putty on them then I am going to Paint them, hopefully this weekend.

I got to meet James Hong, He came over to our booth and asked me to bring R3 to his Booth.

He was a great person to meet, we went over there several times for him to take pictures.

He had me take R3 to his table so he could get his Autograph, and then he put it in her Dome LOL. More Pics to come.

New Tires For R3

Well, Had to buy R3 some new tires one of her other tires the Valve stem broke, so I decided to use some solid Tires Calvin found on the interne. They work awesome and was easier to take apart and put back on than I thought these tires roll smoother and more solid than the tube tires.

Finally!! R3 is moving what a wonderful feeling!!! Wow I have a lot of practicing to do, it is not very easy controlling her. We carried her down the steps on off she went, I ran her into the curb and got my first weathering on the Center Foot, but I had a lot of fun today running her on the street. I almost tipped her several times turning too fast.

Finally have some more pics of my progress, Were trying to get R3 ready for Megacon. I have my ankles on the legs and feet mounted, I still need to paint the Ankles but I have a little more glazing putty to do so I will paint them when I am done. Also here is me with my R3 and, here is a picture of the bracing for R3's center leg. We cut some PVC blocks that we will mount the leg.

Calvin decided to try something new that one of the other builders are making, PVC Battery Boxes turned out pretty nice I am glazing putty right now, I think it is ready for Primer. It took all day to get all the cutting done, I didn't make these Calvin did. But I am doing all the finishing touches. LOL LOL

My Legs Are Done

Well, it's about time I posted some of my progress, Ive been pretty busy with the holidays and work and my dad was pretty sick and also redoing my kitchen, which is turning out very well. So anyways I was still working just not as fast. i finally finished my leg painting in December so we attached them to see what they looked like. They turned out pretty nice and I have 1 of my outer ankles done I just need to sand the primer and look for anymore BOO BOO'S and then paint.

My first attempt to make a R2 D2 Cake ;o (... Didn't turn out to well, The frosting was melting so I had to make the color and then put in fridge to get cold. And then do more and then back in the fridge. I have a lot of learning to do, but I will get it. It took me 3 1/2 hours to decorate it, but it looks like him, that's a start I will try again in 2 weeks and will post another picture.

Wow!!!! I have been trying to get one of these pans for a long time ;o ) And guess how I got it, My bother's mother in law was having a Garage sale, and he saw a lady looking at that and said No!!! that is my Sister's and picked it up and put in in his truck :o ) I was tickled Pink. So this weekend I will expirement making a R2 Cake. Also here is a Pic of Calvin's R2 with his skirt on. Looks great old man!!! LOL LOL.

Center Foot Progress

Here are some more pics of my legs, I had a couple of Paint days. Tempature around 70% so I painted :o )..... My Green and also painted some resin parts for the legs, even though I cleaned them with bleach White and then dawn dish detergent I have some fish eye. So since I will eventually weather my R3 I am going to leave it. I recieved some more Resin parts from Keith, thanks man!!!! they look Great!!!! I will be painting more. The next few days will be in the 70's and I am off work till Monday so I will be busy. I still need to do the silver in my horse shoes an the shim, that will be a challenge I have to hand paint that.

Center Foot Progress

Here is the Center Foot, I did some putty work and then primed so I can see where I need to do more work at. Calvin added the bottom piece to it it turned out nice, I still have a little more work to do. We are working on the outter shells for my outter feet, it is very challenging. But I am not giving up yet.

Finally done with my first leg WHO HOO!!!!!! after about 3 or 4 weeks of glazing putty and sanding I am finally at the end of my first leg. It turned out really nice, but I put my Hub in to see what it looked like and now I can't get it out. So I will have to figure a way to get it out. Also I still have to tape up the white because, I still have to paint the Green on part of my horseshoe and top of the leg.

Here are some Pics of my Battery BoxesPrimed, I did all the Glazing Putty and sanded. Now they are Primed and I just sanded tonight so it will be dry for tomorrow when I get home.

Here we go again we had to redo my Center Foot, first Calvin calibrated and drawed my Blue Prints. Then we had to cut them on the Table saw, we cut the ends at a 45% angle but that was a little much, so we melted some poly styrene and filled that in. The edges turned out awesome now time to sand and putty.

Foot motor Holders

Here are some pics of my foot motor Holders, It took about 3 hours for me to get everything done. I had no problem putting the holders together, it was bolting it together. I would have 3 bolts and spacers all together starting on the 4th and, Calvin would come over and look and say, you need to do this first so all together today I assembled and dis assembled about 5 times AAARRRRGGGGHHH!!!!! I still have the other foot to bolt together, Probably I will do it tomorrow after work and making dinner ;o )..... And I almost forgot..... I nearly threw it across the room I was so tired of taking it apart.

We are now working on Battery boxes also, it has been pretty easy so far. I am building these from the Dave Everett plans, We will skin them tomorrow. We stood them up to Calvin's Aluminum Boxes and they match perfect!!! Phew.

Here we glued on the top round piece of my leg we used 1/4 inch Styrene , WOW lesson learned first we just cut the piece then we used weldon. we clamped it on let it sit for 3 hours... wrong when we took the clamps off it came apart. So we re glued and left it at the shop over night, and bingo that did the trick. So we glued the other leg this morning and left it I will pick it up tomorrow. I also cut more supports for my legs today, now starts the sanding and Putty. Well Calvin wants me to try my luck at cutting the horse shoes today so wish me luck.

I started on my ankles yesterday, we cut them on a table saw at my work it took about 3 1/2 hours to cut them and to do some other stuff. I still have sanding to do and filler this is a rough cut. i think they will be strong enough.

I am making my skirt useing the Dave Everett blueprints, thanks dave!!!! Wow this is turning out great, I was puting together a A&A skirt, but it was not turning out very good. So I am making one out of Poly Styrene, I am useing 3 MM and 1 MM. As you can see it is very easy!!!

the most time was cutting the 3 MM. I can't wait to see the end result... But need to wait for the weld on to dry so I had to stop for the day.

Shoulder Wrapping

Here we covered one of the shoulders today, we used flashing I bought from Home Depot.

It was kinda hard keeping it straight and wrapping at the same time, but it looks pretty good I used a screw to start and then used goop to glue to the shoulder.

Octagon Port And Door Magnets

Here I Painted my Octagon Port,I had to hand Paint the silver that was a Pain!!! but it turned out really nice ;0 ).... My other port had a fight with the Dremmel and the dremmel won ;0 (

I was cutting off the excess and did it at a angle instead of straight down, and guess what happened. I cut most of the bottom out AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! I almost cried. So now I need to order another one from keith.

Also we got the Aluminum mounted for the magnets for my door , I think it will do nicely still have more work to do.

Here is my 2nd Holo 1 more to go!!! here is the pics of the steps. First I had to sand off the ridges on the edges, then Calvin did the Bondo. I did Glazing Putty, and then I primed and wet sanded, and stuffed the center with paper towels and Painted. It turned out rather nice ;o ).... Also I painted the Green pieces for my side vents.

WHOO HOO!!!!! Finally got my arms

mounted today. Wow very time consuming, a lot of turning screws and nuts. Also Calvin put a small scratch on one of my arms when he was holding it still so I could tighten the nuts ;o (..... It took about 2 hours to mount both. Also my large data port is just sitting in place I still need to paint the black in the back then I can mount it. ;o )......

I've added more stuff to my Dome some PC Boards wire Vex pieces I put together and yes some Lego. LOL LOL worked out nicely I still have more stuff to add on the bottom level, just waiting on some stuff to dry. It turned out to be cold again so the Paint is taking it's time drying ;o (...

Inner Dome Parts Painted

Here is some of the inner Dome parts painted, for the Paint I used Rustoleum Metallic finish. Some of the parts i used for the inner was PVC Plumbing Pipe a cap that is from a Flashlight and a piece of thick PVC.

Here is some pictures of my inner Dome pieces, we made a couple of tiers for the parts to set on like in the pictures we have. then we drilled some holes in the center piece so it looks recessed. And then we will put a piece of Poly styrene up under to close holes and look recessed.

I finally Got 1 of my Ankles Complete and got the other 1/2 way built still have a lot of work to finish it. We cut all the pieces on a band saw. I also did some work on my Holo sanded all the lines off the bottom of the Holo and Calvin used bondo to fill it in and then sanded and used Glazing Putty to fill in the bad spots and then I primed it today only 2 more to do.

Here are some pictures of my Arms and Vent My arms was a lot easier than Calvins was I sanded the arms but, I am waiting to Paint after all the adjustments are made. I don't want ant BOO BOO'S. My Vent turned out Awesome I had to sand my skins some more today trial fitting my 2nd Vent I still have some more adjustments to do to the arms. More to come.

Here are some Pics from Mega Con. We stood in line for 2 hours Keith and Carolyn stood in line with us, THANKS so the wait was'nt too bad.We

had a blast it was so packed half the time you couldn't walk. This was my first time ever to Mega Con so it was an experience. Next year we will be there with our Droids,also I want to thank Keith and Carolyn for dinner Sunday night it was great!!! ;o )..... I almost forgot Doug was in his Ghost Rider Costume it looked Fantastic.

Painted Vent Surrounds

Here is my Vent Surrounds I Painted today, this took a while had to do light coats every 10 minutes. And after the 3rd coat I sprayed every 15 minutes, only got 1 done today I will Paint the other tomorrow. ;o )........

Ok I admit I have been slacking on updateing my blog, this is what I did 2 weeks ago. I cut supports for the inside of my feet so they will be strong.I got my Ankle cut and put together Calvin helped a lot on this . It turned out perfect it has since been Primed, and today I did the glazing putty, I will post pics when I am done sanding. ;o ).......

Dome Ring

I glued in my pieces of Poly Styrene today, first I glued in the 1/4 inch piece to even out the center. Then I glued in the .40 piece, the same that I used for the Skins. When the glue dries all the way I will Glazing Putty the Cracks where I put it together. ;o ).....

Here are some Pics from the FX Show there was a lot of people dressed up this year also a lot more Star wars booths. From Ghost Busters to Star Wars and more.I also got my sealed figure Autographed by Shaak Ti she was pretty nice.I was going to get a Autograph for Jason and I from Adam West but... He wanted 50.00 so I turned around and firefly's line was so long everytime we came around we never got it. We also seen Trent there so we stoped and chatted a little bit.

R3 Updates

Not a lot of progress I've been delayed because of my hand. Poured boiling noodles and water..ooowwww!!!!

It was BAD!!!!!! On to R3 I painted the coin slots and glued them in, also I recieved my vents and kind of stuck them in to see what they look like. Too cold to paint right now ;o (... so I am at a stand still, maybe next weekend. ;o )..... Also i put in my Power Coupler.

More Paint Progress

I've been needing to update for a couple of weeks but I've been too busy. Finally got my pieces around the panels Painted, first I put the tape on so I won't have to after I painted pieces. Then I washed everything and then painted them all. I also painted my Power Couplings had to do that by hand I painted the Silver first then I waited a week and then I painted the Green, man that was challenging getting in the small places, but it turned out pretty good. More to come.. ;o )

Painted My Body

Got to paint my Green on my body Sunday WOW!!!! lots of wind so I lost a lot of Paint. But the results were very good ;o ).... I Painted all my Green and now I need to Paint the White and the pieces that go along with it. I also Painted the inside of my radar eye black, that took a little while had to put thin coats because the lens is plastic. I also put on all my Holos, whew that was scarey cutting my dome, was scared I was going to crack it. I also put my PSI lens in on the back of the dome, it fit like a glove no overlapping fit right in the hole. YESSS!!!! And yes Calvin blew up his Computer so he got my old Laptop and I got the new one,eewwww I hate windows vista. More to come. ;o )........

OMG!!! Painted My Dome

OMG!!!!! I just knew I was going to mess up my Dome, but I think it turned out nice. Had a lot of tapeing to do so I wouldn't get any over spray that took a while. Also got the rest of my Dome Ring painted, and my Center of my eye Painted it was smoke see through color so I Painted the inside it turned out good Calvin drawed the panels and I Painted he stood behind me the whole time making me nervous that I was going to run the paint.. ; )....

I will paint the other 1/2 in a couple of weeks if the weather allows it. I figured to give the paint time to dry before I tape up for the Green, it turned out really nice. Can't wait to see the finished product ;- )

This as you can tell is my first time with Glazing Putty can't you tell but the results will be great I hope. And now here is my Dome Calvin taped the lines for me and I did the Painting myself, pretty good job I think I've painted stuff many times so I have some experience I still have some touch up work to do but I can't touch it for a week for the Paint to cure. I don't want to mess it up. ; ).............
