Outer Skins Mounted

Whoo Hoo!!!! Finally got my Front outer skins mounted today, I used 3M VHB Tape because when I was glueing my Inner skins I noticed that it was melting my skin a little too much. Leaving a couple of bubbles and I didn't like that so I taped them on, oh it took about 4 hours for me to tape everything and then today we put skins on not too bad for a Rookie so if there are any BOO BOO'S I did it!!! LOL. I kind of slid my coin slots in so I could see what it looks like, I also put on some pieces that will be White I just haven't Painted them yet. : )

Hi Brenda!
I have been reading your blog for weeks and everything looks great. Great job!!! Just one question that I haven't figured out yet or just missed you commenting on it. Where did you get the dome?

Best regards from an avid fan from Stockholm, Sweden

Hi Thomas, The dome is a Aspects bird feeder dome. Are you building an R2? If so and you make a Blog send me you Addy so I can see your progress. WOW!!!! Sweden that's pretty far away.

Yes, well....I'm looking into start building one over this coming winter (thats like 4-5 months in sweden, lol) but I have to see which parts are the hardest to find...and of course the dome (metal one) is almost impossible to get at a resonable price and having it shipped to sweden would cost a round trip flight ;-) Your plastic bubble looks like a great idea....are the measurments close to the original dome? And if so what did that dome cost you? Once i get all these small details figured out I'll be adding a new R2 blogg to my present film-blog.......you have a great blog by the way, it gave me a glimmer of hope ;-)

Hi Thomas, Yeah!!! I know what you mean, these days with everything going up. The more affordable way to build is Styrene and a lot of my parts I make myself with Blue Prints. I glue the Blue Prints to the Styrene and then cut out I'm making all my feet and legs also the Dome I paid $40.00 + 8.00 to ship to Florida. the measurements of the Dome the width is 18 which is correct but the height is a little shorter, but a lot of people use it.

Cool, do you have an webb address where i could order for this and the part number so I get the corret one. The next question is that I've been trying to get some blueprints and the best ones are via the R2-builders club at yahoo. I've been waiting for my membership approval but it seems to be taking forever. Do you know of any alternate places to get them or are yours available somewhere? Sorry for all of the questions but R2 blueprints and inexpensive ideas are hard to come by ;-)

hi again brenda....little set back today the R2 builders club at yahoo...didn't approve my application for some reason...so I guess I'll have to go at it alone. No worries...this just makes me all more determined ;-)

I'll be starting up my blog in a few days...thanks for all your help

Hi Thomas, if you give me your name that you used to get on the R2 builders club I'll have Calvin find out why they did not approve you. Now on the Dome you will have to search the web Aspects are not making them anymore. ; ( Any time I can help you I will be glad to ;)

Hi Brenda! Thanks once again! Just yesterday I got approved at R2 builders, which is great. Now I have tons of blueprints to work with :) About the dome issue. I think I found 2 other plactics companies that produce likewise domes. When I put up my blog I'll post which ones. Like yours its not the full height but I can build an extention, I hope ;) In all this feels great and it all seems very doable :) I'm sure to have dozens of questions over the coming months. Talk with you later and give my best regards to calvin and thank him for offering to help :)

I love your droid! I am hoping to build a styrene one myself. Can you tell me which 3M VHB tape you used? There are like a dozen different kinds. Thanks!
